Robert Half Staff Accountant in Baltimore, Maryland

Description

We are in search of a Staff Accountant who will be stationed in Baltimore, Maryland. The role requires the successful execution of multiple financial duties, focusing on the analysis, development, and maintenance of financial statements for the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Perform complex accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis tasks as part of daily administration of assigned grants and programs.

• Conduct research, update, reconcile, recommend, monitor, audit, and prepare accounts and reports.

• Maintain all assigned accounts of the general ledger, make journal entries, perform accounts analysis, and monitor accounts receivables and payables.

• Assist in the preparation and filing of all relevant tax forms and year-end settlement reports.

• Recommend improvements to workflow efficiencies and ensure necessary corrective actions are taken in response to errors.

• Interface with internal and external customers, planning, coordinating, arranging meetings, and following up verbally or in writing.

• Assist with planning, implementing, and maintaining financial information systems, training new users on proper usage of financial systems and methods for preparing, reconciling, and analyzing data.

• Assist with review of financial and internal controls to determine their ability to meet management objectives and ensure the safeguarding of assets.

• Prepare fund balance projections and/or year-end budget closing and journal entries, monitoring and reporting on the status of revenues and balances.

• Ensure the security of the accounting system, provide oversight for the funding system(s), and reconcile the grant subsidiary ledgers maintained to the general ledger and funding system(s).

• Compile data and prepare or assist with the creation of the annual financial data schedule.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar role

• Proven knowledge and experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Ability to perform Bank Reconciliations accurately and efficiently

• Proficiency in managing the General Ledger and making Journal Entries

• Experience in conducting Month End Close procedures

• Demonstrated ability in Budgeting and preparing Financial Statements

• Knowledge and experience in preparing and analyzing Trial Balance

• Ability to prepare reports and perform account analysis

• Experience with Government Grants is desirable

• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation

• Knowledge and experience in managing Fixed Assets

• Proven experience in Year End Closings

• Ability to analyze Financial Statements effectively

• Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Excellent communication and presentation skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant accounting software

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required

• Professional accounting certification, such as CPA or CMA, is a plus.
