Robert Half Patient Access Specialist in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Description

We are offering a role for a Patient Access Specialist in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This role will involve interacting with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals within the healthcare industry. The workplace will be fast-paced and will require the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR). This is a short-term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately register inpatients, outpatients, and ER patients in the EMR

• Validate patient information to ensure accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations

• Verify insurance coverage details for patients and calculate patient co-insurance, deductibles, and co-pays

• Collect patient co-insurance, deductibles, and co-pays and balance of cash

• Secure authorization for services from insurance companies

• Communicate effectively with patients, their families, physicians, nurses, and insurance companies

• Stay updated and compliant with federal and state regulations related to patient registration in acute-care settings

• Monitor and resolve patient inquiries regarding their credit accounts

• Take necessary actions to collect delinquent payments from customers

Requirements

• Prior experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in patient access or similar role

• Proficiency in the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals

• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations

• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and health insurance policies

• Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to problem-solve and handle patient concerns in a professional and empathetic manner

• Proficiency in English language, both written and spoken, for effective communication

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications in healthcare administration would be an asset

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays if required

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively

• Comfortable working with computer systems and databases
