Description
Robert Half is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated Systems Engineer with advanced knowledge and experience with Virtualization and Storage solutions for our client in Berkeley, Ca. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance and configuration of the company’s IT infrastructure and troubleshoot issues where needed. The Systems Engineer must have experience doing enterprise level IT assessments, identifying and troubleshooting IT bottlenecks, and reporting the results to management.
Must be able to work in a wide variety of circumstances and multitask: examples include having a flexible schedule, write various detailed documents, perform tasks and projects in both a team and solo environment, effective written and verbal communication skills, meet and manage timelines, etc. This is a hybrid onsite and remote position and is budgeting for over 6 months.
Lead the planning, implementation, and maintenance of virtual infrastructure, with a particular focus on storage systems.
Drive the Nutanix Storage Upgrade project, ensuring seamless integration and optimization of storage resources.
Execute migration projects to a Colocation facility, including the relocation of Azure and Active Directory services to enhance efficiency and reliability.
Manage VMware conversion and upgrade initiatives, leveraging expertise in virtualization technologies.
Provide regular onsite support, at least 3 days a week, to troubleshoot issues and optimize system performance.

Requirements
Extensive experience with storage systems, including proficiency in Nutanix and other relevant platforms.
In-depth understanding of hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) and hyper-conversion technologies, with a focus on storage virtualization.
Proven track record of successful migration projects, demonstrating expertise in planning, execution, and post-migration optimization.
Strong grasp of VMware virtualization technologies, including experience with conversion and upgrade processes.
Ability to analyze storage and virtualization requirements, identify areas for improvement, and implement effective solutions.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Willingness to be onsite regularly and to travel occasionally for project-related activities
Experience with Hyper-V, SQl and SAN Storage. There will be additional projects ie: Installing Applications, Tape Backups. Must have solid knowledge and experience in the MS Windows Environment.
