Robert Half Collections Specialist in Bothell, Washington

Description We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a Collections Specialist in the Credit Union industry, based in Bothell, Washington. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering a collection program for members with delinquent accounts, handling incoming calls, and processing insurance claims among other duties. The role requires a high degree of organization, attention to detail, and proficiency in using Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities:

• Administer collection program for members with delinquent loans, over-limit Visa accounts, and negative share accounts in accordance with established procedures.

• Make quality contact with members who are past due and/or overdrawn to resolve account issues.

• Handle incoming calls from members and staff through the department ACD.

• Consult with members concerning hardship extension requests of loan payments for approval by management.

• Assist staff with questions regarding collection activity and charge-offs.

• Review and recommend delinquent/overdrawn accounts for charge-off and referral to outside agencies.

• Process and review bankruptcy notices and insurance submissions.

• Handle settlement requests for approval by management.

• Process direct and indirect credit bureau disputes.

• Manage ChexSystems reporting on overdrawn/charged off share accounts. Requirements • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a collections role within a Credit Union or similar financial institution

• Demonstrated proficiency in collecting outstanding payments and managing bank transactions

• Proven ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills to effectively interact with customers

• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts effectively

• Ability to maintain professionalism and patience in high-pressure situations

• Knowledge of regulations and guidelines related to debt collection

• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in record keeping and documentation

• Demonstrated ability to maintain customer confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards

• Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to changes in the financial industry and collections practices

• High school diploma or equivalent required; further education in finance or a related field is a plus.
