Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Calabasas, California

Description We are offering a short-term contract employment opportunity for a Senior Accountant in the insurance industry, based in Calabasas, California. This role involves maintaining financial records, preparing complex financial reports, and implementing internal controls for the company and its related entities. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of both the insurance industry and its accounting implications.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and develop a strong understanding of the insurance industry and its accounting implications

• Review the monthly transactions created by the investment and reinsurance areas for accuracy, completeness, and supporting documentation

• Prepare and review the monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP and Statutory financial statements and filings for both external and internal users

• Analyze current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses

• Participate in the implementation of internal controls and procedures to ensure the safeguard of Company assets

• Prepare monthly account reconciliations of all assigned balance sheet accounts

• Participate in GAAP audits and statutory examinations, preparing schedules as requested and providing copies of supporting working papers as needed

• Be responsible for all reporting requirements of the Property and Casualty insurance companies

• Oversee the reconciliation of inter-company accounts between the company and its affiliates on at least a quarterly basis

• SAP Requirements • Minimum of 7 years of experience in an accounting role

• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations

• Extensive experience in managing General Ledger and Journal Entries

• Expertise in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and financial modeling

• Proven experience in executing Month End Close activities

• Familiarity with NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP for financial management and reporting

• Strong communication skills to effectively convey financial information to non-finance stakeholders

• Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• Professional certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) would be advantageous

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• High attention to detail and accuracy in work.
