Description
Job Description: As a Tax Software Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our tax software solution. You will work closely with various state agencies to confirm changes to tax laws and implement them into our software. This position requires frequent collaboration with team members and strong attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate changes in tax laws annually and understand their implications for our software
Receive and compare updates from states to the previous year and make necessary adjustments in the system
Test changes in the software to identify and rectify any errors
Participate in daily team meetings to review progress and assign tasks
Communicate frequently with state officials to verify the accuracy of changes made
Use Mathmaster to input changes, run tests, and ensure there are no negative effects on other software functionalities
Become the subject matter expert in a specific area assigned by the team manager
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field
Prior tax experience is a must
Proficient in Excel, especially in the use of VBA or "if else" statements
Comfortable with technology and capable of learning new software and applications quickly
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
Strong communication skills
New graduates with tax experience and strong tech skills are preferred over candidates with many years of tax experience but limited tech skills
Software/Excel: Candidates must be savvy with Excel and able to work with multiple applications at once. Helpful to have experience with Mathmaster.
Soft Skills: Candidates should have a few years of tax experience and be open to continual learning. They should also be proficient in both written and verbal communication, and good at coordinating with other team members.
