Robert Half HR/Payroll Manager in Charleston, South Carolina
Description Our reputable client is seeking a Payroll Manager to join the company. This Payroll Manager will help achieve standards that are necessary for growth within the financial department and will be responsible for work on tax-related tasks, such as W2 forms, preparing reports and updating policies. If you are a dynamic Payroll Manager with excellent communication, proven leadership, and are deadline driven, this may be the role for you.
Key responsibilities
Help create systems that process payroll account transactions, like salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes and third-party payments
Oversee and train payroll assistants and clerks
Answer payroll-related questions and resolve issues
Work with Human Resources (HR) and accounting teams
Create reports and ensure accuracy of records
Manage payroll tax audits and liaise with auditors
Manage processing of payroll changes (e.g., new hires, terminations, raises) and system upgrades
Coordinate timekeeping and payroll systems
Follow internal policies and act in accordance with relevant laws Requirements
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Solid grasp on current payroll procedures and related laws
Understanding of multiple payroll applications
Strong understanding of compliance
5+ years of payroll experience
Knowledge of multi-location payroll and taxes
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field
Trained in handling confidential business matters and information with discretion
CPP, CPM, or other related professional certifications is a plus
Organizational and leadership skills
2+ years of proven leadership experience as a payroll manager or similar role
