Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Charleston, South Carolina
Description Do you want to become a Senior Accountant with a Government firm? If you have a background in accounting, Robert Half is looking for candidates like you. You will use your knowledge and skills to prepare and consolidate financial statements, analyze and reconcile accounts, analyze cash flow, build budgets and forecasts, prepare audits, and manage internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. This position requires top-notch analytical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This Senior Accountant role is located in Charleston, South Carolina within the Government field. Employees receive solid compensation and benefits. You will also have the chance for growth.
Key responsibilities
Aid in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors
Review financial information such as trends, performance metrics, benchmarks, etc. and present analysis in a clear manner
Prepare Balance Sheet account reconciliations
Delegate resources to Ad-hoc projects as necessary
Produce monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management purposes
Adherence to continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process
Perform monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables such as journal entries, reconciliations, reports in compliance with GAAP
Offer involvement in various department-wide initiatives
Ensure corporate accounting policies, procedures, and controls are followed when working with business partners and be able to provide support on special requests Requirements - Foundational knowledge in general ledger
Grant accounting experience
Federal Grant experience preferred
Deep understanding of month end closings
Workday experience highly desired
BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred
Ability to meet deadlines
Engages effectively in self-directed time management and prioritization of workload
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
3+ years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience
Current and relevant ERP system experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Deep understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance
Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
Familiarity with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required
Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills
