Robert Half Staff Accountant in Charleston, South Carolina
Description Build your career in accounting with Robert Half, now offering a permanent position in the Manufacturing industry for an experienced Staff Accountant that has a knack for problem-solving and enjoys new challenges. As Staff Accountant, you will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, various aspects of internal reporting will be under your responsibility. You will assist in developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. This position plays an intricate part in producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This Charleston, South Carolina area-based position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work.
What you get to do every single day
Compose analyses for income statements and monthly balance sheets for management reporting
In-depth knowledge of reconciling month end balance sheet accounts
Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks
Partake in various department-wide initiatives
Organize schedules for monthly payments and capital lease
Special projects and impromptu reporting, upon request
Organize and review a variety of financial data, reporting it in a way that is useful and understandable
Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Periodic maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries
Maintain intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation
Manage depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
Produce journal entries and perform the month end close under minimal supervision Requirements
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills
Efficient in ERP systems
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Collections experience preferred
Deep understanding of cash applications
Comprehensive knowledge of Accounts Receivable (AR)
Bank reconciliations experience
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
