Robert Half Hardware Technician in Charlotte, North Carolina

Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Hardware Technician to join our IT team. The Hardware Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining computer hardware components and peripherals. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of computer hardware, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a passion for ensuring the reliability and performance of IT equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware issues with desktop computers, laptops, printers, monitors, and other peripherals.

  • Repair or replace faulty hardware components, such as motherboards, CPUs, RAM modules, hard drives, power supplies, and network cards.

  • Perform hardware upgrades, including installing additional memory, storage drives, graphics cards, and other expansion cards.

  • Assemble and disassemble computer systems and peripherals, ensuring proper installation and cable management.

  • Install, configure, and test newly purchased hardware equipment before deployment to end-users.

  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, dusting, and applying thermal paste to computer components to prevent overheating and prolong hardware lifespan.

  • Document hardware configurations, repair procedures, and inventory records in the IT asset management system.

  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for warranty repairs, replacement parts, and technical support.

  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to end-users and other IT staff on hardware-related issues and best practices.

  • Stay informed about advancements in computer hardware technology, participating in professional development activities and training as needed.

    Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Hardware Technician, Computer Repair Technician, or similar role, with a strong background in diagnosing and repairing computer hardware issues.

  • Thorough knowledge of computer hardware components, including CPUs, motherboards, RAM, hard drives, power supplies, and peripherals.

  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment, such as multimeters, power supplies, and hardware testing software.

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze complex hardware issues and develop effective solutions.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple repair tasks efficiently.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with end-users, vendors, and team members.

  • Associate degree or technical certification in computer hardware repair, electronics, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy computer equipment and work in confined spaces when needed.
