The Controller will be a permanent employment opportunity and will be located in the Chelsea, Massachusetts region. Responsibilities include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. How you will make an impact
Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed
Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Review deliverables of self and team to align with client expectations
Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation Requirements - Command of cost accounting
Solid understanding of manufacturing
Strong familiarity with month end closings
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
Demonstrated ability in strong analytical, quantitative and social skills
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written, and listening)
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
