Description

We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a meticulous Accounting Manager in the municipality sector. This position will be based in Colma, California, and will offer a hybrid work model. As an Accounting Manager, you will be taking a leading role in the city's accounting function, including overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash receipt activities.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the city's accounting function, ensuring the smooth execution of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash receipt activities

• Manage the general ledger, including reviewing journal entries and supervising the recording of all revenues, encumbrances, and disbursements

• Collaborate closely with the Administrative Services (Finance) Director to develop budget and forecast funding needs for capital and labor

• Monitor the city's capital improvement process, including project reporting and administration

• Maintain and establish robust internal controls

• Utilize accounting software systems effectively to streamline processes

• Handle accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) efficiently

• Conduct regular auditing to ensure financial compliance

• Oversee billing functions and ensure timely payments

• Handle bi-monthly payroll and daily cash receipts

• Manage month-end close activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Accounting Manager for a minimum of 5 years.

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems.

• Comprehensive knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).

• Solid understanding and experience in Auditing.

• Familiarity with Billing Functions.

• Experience in preparing the Annual Operating Budget.

• Ability to manage bi-Monthly Payroll.

• Experience in handling Daily Cash Receipts and Month-end Close Activities.

• Proficiency in preparing and reviewing Journal Entries.

• Experience in Capital Improvement planning and execution.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is preferred.
