General Ledger Accountant - Up to $95K + Bonus
Company Overview:
My client is a global, billion-dollar, real estate organization based in northern Virginia with offices in Europe, Asia, and South America.
Position Overview:
They are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented General Ledger Accountant to join their accounting team. The General Ledger Accountant will play a key role in managing the day-to-day accounting operations, with a focus on general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and month end close assistance. This position requires strong accounting acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger Management: Perform routine general ledger accounting functions, including journal entry preparation, posting, and maintenance of accurate and up-to-date ledger accounts.
Month-end Close: Assist the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
Account Reconciliations: Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations, investigating and resolving any variances or discrepancies in a timely manner.
Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules for internal and external reporting purposes, including quarterly and annual reporting requirements.
Audit Support: Support external audits by providing documentation, explanations, and analysis as requested by auditors, ensuring compliance with audit standards and regulations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, including asset management, finance, and tax, to support business initiatives, provide financial analysis, and address accounting-related matters.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA, preferred.
Minimum of 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on general ledger accounting and financial reporting, preferably within the real estate industry and/or REIT sector.
Strong accounting acumen, with a solid understanding of US GAAP.
Experience with general ledger systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
