Robert Half Payroll Manager in Fremont, California

Description

Robert Half is currently working with a client looking to fill a Payroll Manager position. This Payroll Manager will be responsible for work on tax-related tasks, such as W2 forms, preparing reports and updating policies, and will help achieve standards that are necessary for growth within the financial department. Reports to: Controller

Key elements include but are not limited to:

• Work with our US payroll and benefits providers to assure accurate and timely payroll processing for hourly and exempt employees.

• Manage and document all payroll related changes such as new hires, terminations, compensation changes, deductions, withholding, garnishment, time off, status changes.

• Ensure all tax payments are done timely, accurately and in compliance with applicable federal, state and local tax laws. Follow up on tax notices.

Responsible for setting up multi-state registration.

• Responsible for all payroll related general ledger accounts.

• Research employees’ inquiries and employee reported discrepancies in contributions to benefit plans

• Perform quarterly and annual reconciliation of wage and tax reports.

• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of W2s.

• Assist with the year-end, worker’s comp and 401(k) audit processes by providing documents and other payroll-related reports upon request; responds to audit findings, and implements procedural changes recommended by auditors.

• Resolving issues employees have with timesheets, pay slips, and other payroll matters.

Requirements

Experience:

• Five (5) years of related experience.

• Expert knowledge of payroll accounting, payroll tax laws and regulations, including multi-state, local, and federal tax law required.

• Experience with processing both hourly and salaried payroll in a multi-location and global environment

• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment, adhering to strict deadlines.

• Strong analytical, organizational, verbal and written communication skills; able to manage multiple priorities.
