Robert Half Staff Accountant in Goose Creek, South Carolina
Description Build your career in accounting with Robert Half, now offering a permanent position in the Construction/Contractor industry for an experienced Staff Accountant that has a knack for problem-solving and enjoys new challenges. In this role, the Staff Accountant is in charge of preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will also be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting throughout the monthly close. You will lend your skills to developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. This position plays an intricate part in producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This Goose Creek, South Carolina area-based position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work.
Key responsibilities
Manage reconciliation, depreciation, and fixed asset ledgers
Survey and organize various financial data, reporting it in a useful and understandable manner
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
Manage schedules for capital lease and monthly payments
Assemble journal entries and thorough account reconciliations that include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Partake in a variety of department-wide initiatives
Contribute to the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Recurring journal entries maintenance and reconciliation
Special projects and impromptu reporting, upon request
In-depth experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations
Maintain intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation
Compose journal entries and conduct the month end close with minimal supervision
Prepare monthly financial close workbooks to support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process Requirements
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
ERP system experience
Strong familiarity with journal entries
Accounts Receivable (AR) experience preferred
Accounts Payable (AP) experience desired
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent attention to detail
