Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Description We are inviting applications for the role of Sr. Accountant in the insurance industry, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks including month-end duties, data compilation for tax filings, inter-company billings, fixed asset data maintenance and conducting financial projects.

Responsibilities:

• Execute month-end duties such as trial balances, journal entries and general ledger/bank reconciliations.

• Assist in gathering data for statutory tax filings and quarterly/annual corporate tax filings.

• Manage data compilation for VAT Tax filings for multiple countries.

• Handle inter-company billings in line with corporate transfer price policy.

• Maintain fixed asset data for all purchases and disposals.

• Contribute to team effort by conducting ad hoc financial projects when required.

• Review processes to determine the tasks needed and timeframe to complete.

• Handle larger volume and complex processes or tasks for team and Agency Partners.

• Take initiative to improve processes and team responsibilities.

• Assist Manager with monthly reports and month-end review including journal entries and reconciliations.

• Adhere to all systems, procedures, and insurance company regulations.

• Conduct US GAAP and IFRS research.

• Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for International Leases (IFRS). Requirements • Proficiency in Month End Close procedures

• Experience with Trial Balance is essential

• Familiarity with Journal Entries and General Ledger management

• Ability to perform Bank Reconciliations efficiently

• Experience in handling Intercompany Transactions

• Knowledge of Transfer Pricing mechanisms

• Experience managing Fixed Assets

• Ability to prepare Monthly Reporting accurately and on schedule

• Familiarity with US GAAP standards in accounting

• Understanding of IFRS Accounting standards

• A degree in accounting or a related field

• Proven experience in a senior accounting role, preferably within the insurance industry

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
