Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Grant Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting, with a specific focus on grant management within the nonprofit sector. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of our grant-funded projects, ensuring compliance with grant regulations, and maintaining accurate financial records.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the financial aspects of grant-funded projects from inception to completion.

  • Monitor grant budgets and expenditures, ensuring alignment with grant guidelines and organizational policies.

  • Prepare financial reports and statements for grantors and internal stakeholders, detailing budgetary status and expenditure analysis.

  • Coordinate with program managers and grant writers to develop accurate and realistic grant budgets.

  • Maintain documentation and records related to grant funding, including contracts, invoices, and financial reports.

  • Ensure compliance with grant regulations, including allowable costs, reporting requirements, and audit procedures.

  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate grant audits and reviews.

  • Provide financial guidance and support to project teams, assisting with budget planning and financial decision-making.

  • Conduct periodic reviews of grant-funded activities to assess financial performance and identify areas for improvement.

  • Stay informed about changes in grant regulations and accounting standards, ensuring organizational compliance.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on grant management within the nonprofit sector.

  • Strong understanding of grant accounting principles, including fund accounting and cost allocation methodologies.

  • Experience preparing financial reports for grant-funded projects, including knowledge of grant-specific reporting requirements.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, with the ability to analyze complex financial data.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
