Robert Half Senior Accountant in Houston, Texas
Description
The position is expected to be a hands-on, value-added team member who helps to achieve financial commitments by providing transparency to results. The position will directly support the Financial Controller and lead an accounting team to ensure the effective delivery of all regional back-office support accounting services. The role is responsible for the day to day operational leading of these accounting services including driving process controls/efficiency, leading closing activities and complying GAAP compliance and support of internal & external tax compliance/audits. This role will have multiple direct reports.
General Ledger/Monthly Close - Manage the general ledger and ensure all transactions are properly classified. Maintain the integrity of the Company's financial records by ensuring that all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner (Payroll/Employee Benefits, Insurance, other prepayments, and accruals)
Bank Reconciliations - Preparation of daily/weekly bank reconciliation ensuring accurate postings to G/L where necessary
Intercompany Reconciliation – ensure all intercompany invoices and cash loans/deposited are accurately posted and all intercompany reconciled monthly
Employee benefit payments monitoring and review
Accounts Payable/T& E – oversee function and be the back-up for AP/wire payment processing.
Account Reconciliations - Ensure account reconciliation across the full balance are prepared and approved.
Balance sheet review - Perform full detailed balance sheet review monthly and ensure all movements adequately explained.
General ledger support/maintenance – Ad hoc GL coding help to departments with POs, G/L code/Cost Center creation, Vendor master data review/approval
Sales & Use Taxes – Assist the tax manager with the sales & use tax process
Property taxes – manage the property tax process with the outsourced provided, consider options to bring in house
Requirements
Degree in Finance or Accounting
Minimum of 3 years of work experience in accounting function (experience leading AP, GL, T& E functions)
Strong SAP experience
