Description

As a Desktop Support Technician, you will be the frontline of IT support, responsible for providing technical assistance and troubleshooting to end-users within our organization. This role requires a strong customer service orientation, combined with excellent technical skills to resolve hardware, software, and network issues efficiently. You will play a vital role in ensuring the productivity and satisfaction of our users by delivering timely and effective support.

Responsibilities:

  • User Support: Provide technical support to end-users via phone, email, chat, or in person. Assist users with hardware and software issues, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. Address user inquiries and resolve technical problems in a timely manner.

  • Hardware Maintenance: Install, configure, and upgrade desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals. Diagnose and repair hardware issues, such as faulty components or connectivity problems. Coordinate warranty repairs and equipment replacements as needed.

  • Software Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and update software applications and operating systems on end-user devices. Ensure software licenses are properly managed and compliant with vendor agreements. Assist users with software installation, updates, and license activation.

  • Network Connectivity: Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, including wired and wireless connections. Configure network settings and troubleshoot DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP issues. Collaborate with network engineers to resolve complex network problems.

  • Security and Compliance: Implement security measures to protect end-user devices from malware, viruses, and other security threats. Ensure compliance with IT security policies and procedures. Educate users on security best practices to minimize risks.

  • Documentation and Training: Maintain accurate records of user requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the helpdesk ticketing system. Create user documentation and knowledge base articles to facilitate self-service support. Provide training and guidance to users on IT tools and procedures.

  • Hardware and Software Inventory: Manage inventory of IT assets, including desktops, laptops, software licenses, and peripherals. Conduct periodic audits to reconcile inventory records and identify discrepancies. Procure new hardware and software as needed to meet business requirements.

  • Collaboration and Escalation: Collaborate with other IT teams, including system administrators, network engineers, and security specialists, to resolve complex technical issues. Escalate unresolved problems to higher-level support teams or vendors as necessary.

    Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent certification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Proven experience in desktop support or a similar technical support role, with a minimum of X years of experience.

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting desktop hardware, software, and peripherals.

  • Strong knowledge of Windows and/or macOS operating systems.

  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, and other directory services.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
