The Controller will be a permanent employment opportunity and will be located in the Kansas City, Missouri region. Responsibilities include managing the day-to-day accounting operations, monthly close activities, preparing financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and processing payroll transactions. This role requires a combination of strategic thinking and hands-on financial management to support the growth and sustainability of the business. What you get to do every single day
Manage day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis.
Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Provide financial guidance and support to senior management, department heads, and other stakeholders.
Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial professionals to facilitate audits, tax filings, and other financial activities.
Stay updated on relevant accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and budgets to provide insights into the company's financial performance.
Requirements
Demonstrated knowledge of cash flow statements
Solid understanding of Month-end Close Activities
Proficiency in Monthly Financial Statements
Adeptness in Balance Sheets
Knowledge of QuickBooks
Income Statements experience
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
3+ years of progressive accounting experience
Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business-related field
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Extraordinary analytical, quantitative and social skills
High attention to detail
