Robert Half Accounting Manager/Supervisor in La Porte, Texas

Description

Dynamic and rapidly growing manufacturing/construction company with in La Porte is looking to add an Accounting Manager to their team. As the Accounting Manager, you will oversee all aspects of accounting operations, with a focus on activity-based or job costing methodologies. Reporting directly to the Regional Controller, you will lead a team of two direct reports and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis.

Accounting Manager Responsibilities:

  • Manage month-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of activity-based or job costing systems to track costs accurately.

  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure compliance with GAAP standards.

  • Conduct detailed P& L analysis, identifying areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.

  • Collaborate with operations teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making.

  • Oversee and mentor a team of two accounting professionals, providing guidance and support as needed.

  • Drive process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting function.

  • Assist with ad hoc projects and initiatives as required.

    Requirements

Accounting Manager Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification preferred.

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or construction environment.

  • Strong understanding of activity-based costing or job costing methodologies.

  • Public accounting experience preferred, but industry experience will also be considered.

  • Hands-on experience with month-end close processes, financial reporting, and P& L analysis.

  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing a team of direct reports.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
