Description

We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity in the government sector located in Lewisville, Texas, for an Assistant Controller. CPA required. 100% onsite. In this role, you will act as the lead accountant for assigned accounting activities, supervise accounting staff, and assist in the organization and coordination of the annual audit.

Assistant Controller (contract-to-hire position):

Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee assigned accounting activities including accounts payable, payroll, and accounts receivable

• Ensure accurate financial reporting and effective financial record keeping

• Handle processing of all financial transactions

• Interpret customer contracts and apply appropriate accounting practices

• Oversee accounting for all customer billings

• Assist in the development and recommendation of internal controls and financial policies

• Aid in the financial reporting of projects and other activities

• Organize and coordinate the annual audit and assist in preparing the Consolidated Annual Financial Report

• Assist with the development and monitoring of Operating and Capital Budgets

• Performs duties necessary to organize and coordinate the annual audit and assists in preparing the Consolidated Annual Financial Report (CAFR).

Supervises assigned accounting staff by organizing, coordinating, and reviewing activities related to accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable, financial reporting, fixed assets, financial record keeping and processing of financial transactions.

CPA certification is a must for this role.

Requirements

• CPA or working towards a CPA certification and at least 7 years of experience in the field of accounting or in a related area

• Mastery of accounting software systems is required

• Proven proficiency in managing accounting functions, including accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)

• Must have a solid understanding of auditing procedures

• Familiarity with budget processes and planning is necessary

• Experience with month-end close procedures is essential

• Knowledge of debt securities is a plus

• Prior supervisory experience is preferred

• Must hold a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent certification

• Previous experience in a government role is beneficial but not required
