Robert Half Staff Accountant in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Description
Robert Half is proudly partnering with a leading financial institution in their search for a highly organized and dedicated Staff Accountant to maintain adherence to corporate, accounting, and GAAP standards. This role will play a key part in the timely and accurate processing of transactions, expense reports, invoices, and credit memos, while also being responsible for various accounting functions and ensuring the enforcement of all internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive monthly, quarterly, and annual close operations.
Handle accounting-related tasks for property management, fixed assets, accounts payable, accruals, corporate credit cards, and tax payments.
Perform general ledger reconciliations.
Manage vendor database and ensure compliance with IRS and OFAC regulations.
Act as the first point of contact for the accounting department, delivering quality assistance in a timely, professional way.
Process Board member compensation and distribute operational reports.
Assist with internal/external audit preparations.
Track postage inventory, initiate payments, and complete journal entries.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in accounting.
Familiar with GAAP, accounting standards, and company policies regarding accounting.
Proficient in Excel; SQL experience is a plus.
Highly analytical with excellent problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage time, multitask, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Requirements
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
High attention to detail
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Month-end Close Activities experience
Solid understanding of property accounting
Command of GAAP Accounting
Accruals experience highly desired
Well-founded grasp of expense reports
Foundational knowledge in fixed assets
Proven knowledge of general ledger
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"
