Robert Half seeks a Controller to become a part of a successful company and take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department. This permanent position is for a Controller who will work in the New York, New York region. You will succeed in this position if you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. What you get to do every single day
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection
Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required
Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management Requirements - Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Adeptness in Investor Relations
Command of financial reporting
General familiarity with K-1
Investor Relations experience highly desired
Net asset value experience
Foundational knowledge in Private Equity
Strong familiarity with auditing
Demonstrated knowledge of month end closings
Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written, and listening)
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
CPA/MBA preferred
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
