Robert Half Payroll Specialist in New York, New York

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in the Real Estate & Property industry. The role will be based in New York, United States and will involve the handling of payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate payment processes.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with payroll entries and timecard reviews, ensuring accurate record keeping

• Process garnishments, tax levies, and bankruptcy orders

• Conduct payroll reconciliation after processing and generate reports

• Monitor and track employee benefits eligibility, time/attendance, and paid time off

• Enter new hires into the system and process weekly payroll

• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, ensuring data accuracy

• Conduct electronic changes and maintenance transactions in the payroll system

• Carry out random audits on the payroll system to guarantee accurate processing

• Provide support for payroll and benefit-related inquiries

• Handle confidential information in a professional manner

• Participate in other projects or work as assigned.

Skills:

• Proficiency in using ADP Workforce Now

• Experience in handling union payroll and garnishments

• Proficiency in Excel Formulas

• Strong customer service skills. Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in payroll processing utilizing APD WFN.

  • Union experience is preferred; 32BJ experience is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, (ex: Pivot table, V-look up).

  • Position requires 4 days in the office, 1 day remote.

  • Excellent people skills and a true customer service orientation towards employees and managers and have the ability to interact with managers and employees at all levels in the organization.

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet weekly transmitting deadlines.

  • Absolute integrity, discretion, and sensitivity to confidential company and employee information.

  • Excellent organization, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to prioritize, multitask and operate independently and on a team in a deadline driven environment.
