Description

Robert Half Management Resources is seeking an experienced Controller to help oversee the financial operations of a non-profit client that we are currently supporting for a 4+ month project. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the mission and goals of the non-profit.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

• Present financial information to the executive team and board of directors to help make strategic executive decisions.

• Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts.

• Monitor budget variances and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures or revenue enhancement opportunities.

• Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure accuracy of financial data, and comply with regulatory requirements.

• Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures to mitigate risks and maintain compliance with accounting standards.

• Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate annual audits and ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.

• Respond to audit inquiries and implement recommendations to improve financial processes and controls.

• Oversee the financial aspects of grant applications, reporting, and compliance.

• Work closely with program managers to track grant expenditures and ensure alignment with grant objectives and reporting requirements.

• Manage cash flow to optimize liquidity and ensure sufficient funds are available to meet operating expenses and obligations.

• Conduct financial analysis to assess organizational performance, identify trends, and provide insights for strategic decision-making.

• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure accurate and timely completion of financial tasks.

• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional development within the finance team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or advanced degree.

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management, preferably in the non-profit sector.

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.

• Proficiency Sage Intacct or a similar platform.

• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations.

• Effective communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.

• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.

• Proven leadership and team management abilities, with a collaborative and solution-oriented approach.
