Description

Sara Walker with Robert Half is offering an opportunity for a Payroll Supervisor/Manager/Director role in the telecom industry, located in Portland, Oregon. This role involves supervising and managing payroll operations and ensuring compliance with company policies and financial standards.

Responsibilities:

• Select, train, discipline, and counsel employees to achieve human resource objectives for payroll.

• Maintain financial standards for payroll by identifying variances, issuing corrections, and keeping records of expenditures.

• Contribute to the formulation of annual budgets by providing information from payroll records.

• Review and enter changes in insurance, exemptions, pay status, deductions, and earned vacation into the current records.

• Maintain balance in payroll accounts by resolving discrepancies, initiating journal entries, and auditing information.

• Prepare employee compensation for distribution by checking time records and initiating electronic transfers, checks, and incentive bonuses as needed.

• Assess liabilities for payroll by entering information regarding employee taxes, 401k direct deposits and transfers, garnishments and wage assignments.

• Keep company life insurance for employees up-to-date by preparing requests for checks, updating calculations, and initiating the disbursement process.

• Supervise and manage multi-state payroll operations.

Requirements • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a payroll supervisor, manager, or director role

• Demonstrated knowledge in multi-state payroll is required

• Proven experience in supervising teams or departments is necessary

• Strong understanding of payroll tax laws and regulations

• Proficiency in payroll software systems

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong leadership and team management abilities

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

• Detail-oriented with high degree of accuracy

• Problem-solving skills and ability to handle confidential information professionally

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field is preferred.
