Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Queens, New York

Description We are in search of a Senior Accountant to join our team located in Flushing, New York. This role primarily involves overseeing the accounts of multiple operating and holding companies within a manufacturing industry setting. The opportunity offers a short term contract employment opportunity, giving the successful candidate a chance to be part of a dynamic team.

Responsibilities:

• Handle accounting for complex accounts including fixed assets, inventory, prepaid expenses, and leases.

• Prepare monthly end closing, including accrual base adjustments, periodical inventory adjustment, and inter-company entries.

• Consolidate operating entities and prepare consolidated financial statements such as income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.

• Assist in the annual audit process and develop recommendations to improve accounting methods and controls.

• Manage booking of accrued liabilities and proposing monthly adjustments.

• Assist in resolving accounting, auditing, and taxation issues.

• Conduct audits of the manufacturing cost accounting process.

• Prepare sales tax and truck highway tax returns.

• Perform cost variance analysis for materials, labor, and overhead.

• Compile cost information for use in operating budget and projection.

• Review, analyze, and process accounts payable related transactions and documentation.

• Utilize skills in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Microsoft Excel, Month End Close, NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, and Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Requirements • Possess significant experience in the role of Sr. Accountant or a similar role.

• Proficiency in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations.

• Demonstrated experience with general ledger management and journal entries.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

• Familiarity with month-end close procedures.

• Experience with financial software such as NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Knowledge of accounting principles and best practices.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• CPA certification is preferred but not required.

• Willingness to continuously improve and learn new skills.
