Robert Half Staff Accountant in Richmond, Virginia

Description We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity in the education industry at a university located in Richmond, Virginia. The role is primarily for a Staff Accountant who will be handling both accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger duties.

Responsibilities

• Accurately process accounts payable and receivable transactions.

• Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure financial records are up-to-date.

• Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and complete.

• Prepare and post journal entries as part of month end close procedures.

• Utilize accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP for various accounting tasks.

• Collaborate with other team members to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.

• Regularly review and verify financial statements for accuracy and completeness.

• Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities promptly.

• Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Proven experience in the role of a Staff Accountant or similar within a university setting.

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).

• Experience with Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, and Journal Entries.

• Ability to handle Month End Close processes.

• Knowledge of accounting software like NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• A keen understanding of university financial regulations and standards.

• Continued commitment to professional development and staying updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations.
