Robert Half Staff Accountant in Richmond, Virginia

Description We are on the lookout for a diligent Staff Accountant to join our team based in Richmond, Virginia. This pivotal role will involve a wide range of accounting duties, including cost accounting, credit and collections, and the preparation and submission of monthly sales and tax reports. The successful candidate will also be expected to manage and maintain fixed assets listings and depreciation, as well as assist with cycle counts and year-end physical inventories.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting the Plant Controller in various accounting tasks

• Managing daily sales margins and monitoring/reporting significant variances from the standard

• Reviewing costing of new items and ensuring accuracy of standard costs

• Posting daily cash receipts to Accounts Receivable (AR) and analyzing collections on past due accounts

• Calculating and paying commissions for internal sales reps, outside brokers, and customer rebates

• Assisting with cycle counts and year-end physical inventories

• Preparing and entering month-end journal entries

• Reconciling various vendor invoices and preparing monthly bank reconciliations

• Managing and maintaining fixed assets listings/depreciation

• Preparing annual 1099 tax forms and submitting monthly sales and use tax to the state of Virginia

Candidates should possess a strong understanding of various accounting software including NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, SAP, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, and have a solid background in cost accounting and manufacturing cost accounting. The ability to work efficiently and accurately is crucial for this role. Requirements • Applicant must possess a minimum of three years of experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar role

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is necessary

• Experience in performing Bank Reconciliations is required

• Familiarity with General Ledger and Journal Entries is essential

• Ability to handle Month End Close tasks is significant

• Mastery in using financial software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, SAP, and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne is crucial

• Knowledge in Cost Accounting, Manufacturing Cost Accounting, and Standard Cost Accounting is beneficial

• Candidates should have strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are needed

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
