Robert Half Assistant Controller in Roseville, California

Description

Lisa Cole with Robert Hald is currently seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join a growing and established company. This role is central to the financial operations of our organization, encompassing a range of responsibilities from managing payroll specialists and accounts payable specialist to coordinating month-end close and third-party audits. Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Accounting Functions: Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger management, journal entries, and financial statement preparation. Ensure accuracy, compliance with accounting standards, and timely reporting.

  • Lead Month-End Close Process: Coordinate and execute the month-end close process, including reconciliations, accruals, and financial analysis. Prepare financial reports and variance analysis for management review.

  • Supervise Accounts Payable: Supervise the accounts payable team in processing invoices, payments, and vendor reconciliations. Maintain strong vendor relationships and ensure timely and accurate payments.

  • Manage Payroll Operations: Oversee payroll processing, including employee compensation, deductions, and tax compliance. Collaborate with HR on payroll-related matters and ensure accuracy in payroll records.

  • Internal Controls and Compliance: Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Assist in audits and reviews by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

  • Process Improvement Initiatives: Identify opportunities for process improvements in accounting, month-end close, accounts payable, and payroll functions. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Team Leadership and Development: Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to finance team members. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment to maximize team productivity and engagement.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, including hands-on experience with month-end close, accounts payable, and payroll functions

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interact with cross-functional teams and senior management
