Robert Half Accounting Manager in Salinas, California

Description Robert Half is searching for an energetic Controller to join a reputable services company. In this leadership role, you will manage an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. Your responsibilities in this role

  • Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Meet client expectations by reviewing deliverables of self and team to make sure they meet client satisfaction

  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis

  • Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation

  • Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties

  • Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

  • Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management

  • Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis Requirements - Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  • Proven knowledge of in-house payroll

  • Manual payroll experience highly desired

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Accounting operations

  • Labor Employee Relations experience preferred

  • General familiarity with Financial Statement

  • Monthly Financial Reports experience required

  • Well-founded grasp of Software Implementations

  • Deep understanding of employee relations

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

  • Sound written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

  • Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • CPA or MBA preferred

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued

  • Be detailed, flexible, and organized

  • Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
