Robert Half Cost Accountant in Simi Valley, California

Description

We are in search of a committed and meticulous Cost Accountant to join our team in Simi Valley, California. The chosen candidate will play a critical role in our finance department, focusing on the preparation of financial reports, assessing reserves, cost file maintenance, and working closely with our supply chain operations. Responsibilities:

• Prepare month-end journal entries and financial reports in a timely manner

• Analyze monthly product line performance and compare it to the plan

• Prepare annual budgets and periodic forecasts

• Evaluate the adequacy of reserves for both inventory and warranty

• Review inventory transactions before they are posted to the general ledger

• Maintain and update the standard cost file

• Gather product cost data for customer pricing decisions

• Review purchase expenditure requests and ensure they meet company policies

• Administer product group, part class, and general ledger posting control tables

• Assist with physical inventories, including setting up count entry file

• Answer operations personnel questions on how to properly handle transactions within the ERP system

• Prepare inventory capitalization schedules

• Collaborate with supply chain operations to ensure smooth flow of operations.

Requirements • Demonstrable experience in cost accounting, cost analysis, and manufacturing cost accounting

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience

• Proficiency in accounting software systems and ERP solutions

• Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services and ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning

• Experience in managing accounts payable (AP)

• Knowledge of budget processes and standard cost accounting

• Experience in CapEx (Capital Expenditure) management

• Ability to perform various accounting functions

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• CPA or CMA certification is a plus, but not mandatory

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations regarding finances and taxation.
