The Director of Accounting is responsible for all aspects of accounting and reporting for 3 divisions, as well as Investment portfolios and Base Cost areas in accordance with GAAP. Responsibilities 1. Responsible for all aspects of accounting and reporting for 3 divisions including: Proper revenue recognition for all Development / Corporate Sponsorship revenues; Proper accounting for all expenses and deferred revenues, particularly as relates to events; Maintain financial activity for 150 separate named funds & restricted donations - $310M; Develop & maintain policies and procedures; Supervise staff and Document technical accounting positions. 2. Serve as Key Liaison for Law, Business & Government, Development Office etc., including a) Review contribution contracts to determine accounting treatment; interpret and explain accounting guidance and recommend contractual language changes b) Serve as a resource for donor reporting matters and policy/ procedure questions c) Review & approve financial information contained in new donor budgets/proposals, forms to state regulatory agencies, etc., for consistency with financial records d) partner with F&P; Director and staff with analysis and projections. 3. Front-line responsibility for all accounting, financial reporting, audits and other compliance for all Global Exploration Funds (Sweden, Korea and other upcoming growth areas) including upfront research, primary liaison with Int'l accounting advisors and auditors, developing policies/procedures and ensure compliance with Int'l reporting standards. Front-line responsibility for accounting compliance with all federal grant requirements, including A-133 audit, Indirect Cost rate submissions etc. 4. Manage the accounting for all corporate admin departments and base costs, including maintaining all fixed asset records, occupancy and benefit load rates, leases and corporate R&D.; Review all new capital spending projects for consistency with GAAP definitions of capital projects. Liaison with the Treasury office to ensure proper accounting for the Deferred Capital Fund, Exploration Endowment Fund, the Education Foundation Fund, Donor Advised Funds, & other investments. Supervise staff. 5. Lead special projects as directed by the Controller or CFO including coordinating cross-divisional meetings with senior management, delegating responsibility and assigning tasks to other team members as required. Attend meetings on behalf of CFO and Controller, when assigned. Communicate the results of these projects or meetings to Corporate Finance Executive management. Qualified candidates for this Director of Accounting role will have 10+ public accounting experience where you have audited large Non-Profits preferably international, A-133 experience, contributions and investment accounting experience, CPA+ and excellent technical GAAP knowledge (specifically in the Non-profit guidance area).
