Description
Robert Half is seeking a AWS Cloud Engineer for a New Mexico based organization.
We are seeking a highly skilled AWS Cloud Engineer to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, planning, and implementing migrations from on-premise infrastructure to AWS, training internal infrastructure engineers, and creating comprehensive documentation. This role is critical in ensuring smooth transitions to the cloud and enhancing the skill set of our internal teams.
The breakdown of the role will be as follows:
•Initial focus balance should be 70% Execution & Support /30% Training & documentation, with gradual shift towards 50/50 balance
•Balance of time spent in each area will shift as the project phases mature
•You will work closely with our Project Management, Infrastructure, Operations, and Development teams to ensure a smooth and secure transition to the cloud.
Responsibilities
1)Migration of On-premise Infrastructure
•Perform Discovery on existing Infrastructure & Application environment using tools such as Cloudamize or AWS Application Migration Services
• Design & Develop AWS environment with guidance from our Sr Cloud Architect
•Implement DevOps best practices for deployment and management of AWS environment
•Monitor and troubleshoot AWS cloud performance and availability issues.
o Measured by: On Time, On Budget delivery of project milestones; Successful migration of 85% self-hosted applications/infrastructure.
2)Training & Mentorship
• Train and mentor internal team members on AWS cloud concepts, services, and best practices.
• Mentor via the See 1, Do 1, Teach 1 method through shadowing sessions, whiteboard sessions, and other training techniques
o Measured by: 2 Infrastructure and 2 Dev team members pass Terraform/AWS Competency test
3) Support & Maintenance of the AWS Cloud Environment
a. Maintain availability of AWS environment to highest production application standards.
b. Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of issues that may arise as pertain to the AWS environment.
4)Documentation
•Create detailed documentation of migration processes, architectures, configurations, and best practices.

The successful Cloud Engineer will have 5 years of Cloud migration experience with AWS.
