Robert Half Payroll Clerk in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Description

Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Payroll Clerk to join our team on a full-time contract basis, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance during the contract period. The Payroll Clerk will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions, benefits administration, and compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, verify, and process time and attendance data for employees.

  • Calculate and input payroll deductions, such as taxes, benefits, and garnishments.

  • Generate and distribute employee paychecks and statements.

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave management.

  • Assist employees with benefit-related inquiries and enrollment processes.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.

  • Prepare and submit payroll tax returns and payments in a timely manner.

  • Maintain accurate and organized payroll records, including employee information, pay rates, and deductions.

  • Generate and store payroll reports for auditing and reporting purposes.

  • Prepare and distribute W-2 forms and other year-end payroll documentation.

  • Reconcile year-end payroll reports.

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters, deductions, and benefits.

  • Provide exceptional customer service and resolve issues promptly.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations.

  • Generate payroll-related reports for management and regulatory agencies as needed.

    Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is a plus.

  • Previous experience in payroll processing and benefits administration is preferred.

  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office suite.

  • Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
