Description

Robert Half is seeking a System Administrator for a New Mexico based organization.

Responsible for designing, implementing, and administrating the server, storage hardware, software, network, and telecom (telephones, cell phones, and radios) needs while promoting and exhibiting World Class Service . Occasionally assists other Systems Administrator and IT Managers with ensuring reliability, uptime, and security for all supporting all hardware and software applications and systems.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

•Administers and monitors corporate email systems, and archiving, storage area networks, virtual desktop integration (VDI), virtual server environments, and server hardware and software.

•Monitors, maintains, and ensures performance, security standards, uptime and effectiveness of the server and storage resources.

•Serves as liaison for the organization with hardware and technical support vendors.

•Provides basic server, storage and VDI support training to IT staff.

•Ensures all server and storage systems are updated and maintained per manufacture recommendations and IT standards.

•Documents and maintains detailed inventories of all server and storage hardware and software center.

•Plans technological of server and storage hardware and software.

•Responsible for ensuring all server and storage systems, when required, and takes proactive steps to achieve 100% up time.

•Reviews server and storage security to ensure IT standards and industry best practices are met on an ongoing basis.

•Ensures server operating systems, data, and programs are backed up according to IT internal controls and standard operating procedures.

•Coordinates and documents annual testing of backups to ensure integrity.

•Implements and administers system monitoring technologies and server event management.

•Maintains server and client performance and security through the use of systems software and appliances.

•Assists in network support.

•Orders and prices relevant system equipment.

•Serves as liaison for the organization with hardware and technical support vendors and service providers.

•Documents and maintains detailed technical inventories of all server-related hardware and software.

•Responsible for backing up all servers, databases and settings.

•Coordinates and provides technical administration for PBX hardware/software.

•Assists with the configuration and support of SSL VPN.

•Documents and controls all vendor supplied software.

Requirements

The successful System Administrator will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, IT, or related field, required.

  • MCSE, MCSA or other professional certifications, preferred.

  • Two (2) years' working experience as a Systems Administrator in a Windows server environment with VMWare Virtualization exposure; administering and maintaining an Exchange Enterprise email system; and experience designing, implementing and maintaining Virtual Desktop Integration in an enterprise environment, required.

  • Two (2) years' working knowledge of virtualization and storage area networks, preferred.

  • Or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have knowledge of MIS and IT concepts, principles, and practices; computer operations and user environments; and Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft Project.

  • Experience designing, implementing and administration of the following: Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, Active Directory, Enterprise security products, storage area networks and backup systems.

  • Must be able to work independently, manage projects, install, configure, upgrade, maintain, monitor system performance, network resources, and provide guidance to team members.

  • Must be able to work a flexible and varying schedule to include 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on-call, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
