This PRE-CERTIFICATION SPECIALIST will also be assisting in the creation of patient accounts and reviewing outstanding pre-certification requests. The PRE-CERTIFICATION SPECIALIST will also be ensuring that authorization is being obtained and documented accurately and in a timely manner. In this PRE-CERTIFICATION SPECIALIST role, you will be aiding in the completeness of pre-certification so a high level of expertise in pre-certification is a must! This PRE-CERTIFICATION SPECIALIST position is on-site and candidate must be commutable to the office located in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
DUTIES
Input patient registration information and account data in hospital system
Assist in the insurance/benefit verification process
Ensure all referral and authorization requirements are completed; notate correct date of service, procedure codes and facility
Explain referral and authorization requirements to patient, family and referring physician offices as needed
Obtain referral and/or authorizations prior to scheduled procedure date
Maintain current and detailed knowledge of third-party requirements
Utilize office software for insurance verification/eligibility
Utilize patient estimation software to communicated patient responsibility
Scan orders and referrals/authorizations into system
Call the physician's' office prior to appointment for any missing documentation
Make sure worklists are reviewed to assure authorizations and referrals are being obtained retrospectively where possible to minimize denials
Accurately update scheduled appointments to include referral and authorization requirements
Ensure the scheduled appointments match the corresponding account registration
Maintain compliance when working with patient insurance information

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
Prior experience in Medical Admin/Insurance Verification experience
MUST HAVE Precertification experience
Position is on-site and candidate must be commutable to office in Allentown, PA
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Experience in Pre-authorizations and Referral is preferred
Must be a reliable and dependable employee!
