Robert Half seeks a Controller to become a part of a successful Non-Profit company and take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department. The permanent Controller position is situated in the Amarillo, Texas area. Responsibilities include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. To succeed in this role, you will need to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Your responsibilities in this role
Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management
Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties Requirements
Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills
Strong attention to detail
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
CPA or MBA preferred
Vow to meet business deadlines
Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills
Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Knowledge of workday
