The permanent position is situated in the Laurel, Maryland area. Candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff, will be preferred for this position. Effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services will be essential for this role, and a creative type who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Your responsibilities
Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Inspect deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management
Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed
Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis
Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Requirements
10+ years of accounting and finance experience
Proficient in CostPoint
Experience with multiple accounting and financial reporting systems
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting
Strong knowledge of cost control, budgeting, accounting, and finance principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Extremely detailed and analytical
MBA or CPA is preferred
