Description Robert Half is looking for candidates who want to have broad business engagement and impact, for an open Controller position with a business in the Healthcare/NHS field. To thrive in this position, you will need to be able to manage the process to ensure that models are correct and are fully accrued each month, verify and hold the operations team accountable to ensure end to end incentive processing, payments, accounting and related financial controls are operating effectively. The Controller position is located in Antioch, California and is on a long-term contract / temporary basis. The ideal candidate for this position thrives when working in a very dynamic and high profile area with significant visibility at executive management level.

Your responsibilities in this role

  • Support SOX controls through the collation of evidence and qualitative discussion of monthly financial results across global programs

  • Lead all processes of budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for all accountable programs

  • Analyze and oversee controls to ensure they are effectively designed and operating in partnership with compliance

  • Continuous review of actual spend against budget and lead necessary actions needed for any expected shortfalls

  • Engage with various business partners for various program controllership and FP& A activities such as ensuring accuracy of accrual models, appropriate accounting and true-up activities and answer queries from business, area and subsidiary controllers

  • Collaborate with the Treasury to deliver cash flow forecasts in a timely manner

  • Secure an understanding of key financial results and movements across programs to summarize and discuss with key business partners

  • Recognize key financial results and movements across programs, then summarize and discuss them with key business partners Requirements - Professional accounting and controllership or public accounting and internal controls experience and/or Internal Audit or Controls and Compliance

  • Skills to assess process and internal control weaknesses and identify improvements

  • Exemplary knowledge in office and accounting computer systems

  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership across finance team by engaging with different groups around the world via virtual communication

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and vendor management skills

  • Good understanding of ERP system is highly valued

  • Strong familiarity with cash management

  • Expertise in account reconciliation

  • Financial auditing experience desired

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or other relevant field

    • CPA and/or CMA preferred
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills with experience building trusted advisor/consultant relationships and aptitude for influencing Executives and Business Decision Makers
