Robert Half Director of Technical Accounting in Arlington, Virginia
Our client, a rapidly growing world class leader in the emerging energy sector is recruiting for a Director of Technical Accounting to join their very talented team. This is a ground floor opportunity for a resourceful person to take their career to the next level quickly with a great amount of challenges and runway as this company rapidly builds their finance team and overall infrastructure. This newly created Director of Technical Accounting position will report to a tenured leader and provide hands on leadership and technical guidance for the financial reporting team and support their cutting edge new global level projects. In this Director of Technical Accounting role, among other duties you will:
Perform analysis for complex technical accounting transactions in accordance with US GAAP and present conclusions in accounting memos and white papers
Provide support for the accounting close and financial reporting processes; including technical accounting areas and audit responses
Assume responsibility for financial statement disclosure checklists to ensure financial statements are in compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
Provide leadership on the research of applicable GAAP pronouncements and stay ahead of emerging technical accounting issues.
Assist in the implementation of new accounting requirements or disclosure requirements in coordination with leadership and outside CPA firm
Provide support regarding the external audit process and provide supporting schedules and requested information to support the year end external audit and quarterly reviews
Effectively coordinate between project operations teams and the financial reporting team to maintain information flow and hit reporting deadlines
Perform ad hoc projects for senior management as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field
• CPA preferred
• 10 or more years of progressive experience in accounting with demonstrated technical GAAP skills
• Prior leadership of a team including responsibility for the month end close, management reporting and related analytics
• Proven experience with a large ERP system such as Oracle/SAP/JDE
• Prior experience within the audit group of a public accounting firm is a desired
