Description

Robert Half is recruiting for an exciting Director of Philanthropy opportunity with a growing nonprofit in Arlington, VA!

As the Senior Director of Philanthropy, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of fundraising and philanthropic activities. You will develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, cultivate donor relationships, and secure financial support to advance our mission and programs. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in fundraising leadership roles, exceptional communication and leadership skills, and a passion for making a difference in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement strategic fundraising plans to meet annual revenue goals and long-term fundraising objectives. Identify opportunities for donor engagement, cultivation, and stewardship to maximize philanthropic support.

  • Donor Cultivation and Relationship Management: Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, foundations, corporations, and other key stakeholders. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing donors and identify and cultivate new prospects to expand our donor base.

  • Major Gifts and Campaigns: Lead major gift solicitation efforts, including individual, corporate, and foundation giving. Develop and execute fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives to engage donors and raise funds for priority programs and projects.

  • Grant Writing and Management: Oversee the grant writing and grant management process, including prospect research, proposal development, submission, and reporting. Ensure compliance with grant requirements and deadlines and maintain accurate records of grant activity.

  • Board Engagement: Collaborate with the board of directors and senior leadership team to engage board members in fundraising activities, donor cultivation, and stewardship efforts. Provide regular updates on fundraising progress and opportunities for board involvement.

  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to the philanthropy team, including fundraising staff, volunteers, and consultants. Set clear goals and expectations, provide ongoing support and mentorship, and foster a collaborative and results-driven team culture.

  • Strategic Partnerships: Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with other organizations, community leaders, and stakeholders to advance fundraising goals and maximize impact. Collaborate with programmatic and operational teams to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities.

  • Budget and Financial Management: Develop and manage the philanthropy department budget, ensuring responsible stewardship of financial resources and alignment with fundraising goals and objectives.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of success in major gifts fundraising, donor cultivation, and campaign management.

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience leading and motivating fundraising teams to achieve goals and objectives.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish meaningful relationships with donors and stakeholders.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies that align with organizational goals and priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including board members, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners.

  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements in the nonprofit sector.

  • Experience with donor management software and fundraising databases.

  • Passion for the organization's mission and commitment to making a difference in the community.
