Robert Half Data Center Technician in Ashburn, Virginia

Description We are seeking a Data Center Technician to join our team located in Ashburn, Virginia. This role involves managing infrastructure installation requests, providing support for power downs/single-sided events, and interfacing with various teams to ensure infrastructure requirements are met. This position offers a long-term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee infrastructure installation requests from start to finish

• Provide support during building power downs or single-sided events

• Ensure infrastructure network connections and peripherals are certified before handing off to Data Center Support (DCS)

• Work closely with the Business As Usual (BAU) team to provide any additional infrastructure

• Interface with the Business Units and engineering teams to coordinate work requests

• Ensure all service levels are met by coordinating work requests with electrical contractors

• Provide detailed estimates for assigned projects, documenting requirements through direct communication with IT or Project Management teams

• Create and monitor tickets for approval and closeout or cancel them once work is complete

• Assist with rack level capacity management and monitoring

• Participate in meetings related to Business As Usual or projects Infrastructure work

• Coordinate Infrastructure Installs including power installs, infrastructure and rack installs, and infrastructure cabling

• Manage equipment procurement including ordering and tracking of all infrastructure materials and purchase orders. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Data Center Technician or in a similar role

• Proficiency in Network Operations Center (NOC) systems and management

• Experience with Cable Assemblies and Cable Installation is crucial

• Familiarity with Microsoft applications and systems

• Knowledge of Cisco Hardware systems is required

• Experience with SAN - Storage Area Network, including setup and maintenance

• Ability to troubleshoot network systems and provide timely solutions

• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Proven problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Relevant certification or degree in IT or related field is preferred Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.®
