SEC/EXTERNAL REPORTING MANAGER - Fintech Industry - Innovative Company in Alpharetta

My client, a fintech company in Alpharetta, is searching for an immediate, direct-hire External Reporting Manager to join their team. This is an innovative company that has grown astronomically over the last couple years. The External Reporting Manager will be responsible for overseeing external financial reporting and other regulatory statutory reporting. The External Reporting Manager will be responsible for remaining current on new pronouncements and technical accounting issues. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills balanced with an in-depth knowledge of the requirements for SEC filings. The External Reporting Manager will have high visibility to senior executives within the company and is a great opportunity for someone looking to take their career to the next level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the external financial reporting process, including SEC reporting (10-Ks, 10-Qs), other common filings, and other financial and regulatory statutory reporting

  • Perform the compilation of the filing, including preparing schedules, footnotes, Management's Discussion and Analysis section, Critical Accounting Policies and Estimates section, and other various sections of the 10-K and 10-Q

  • Summarize key financial reporting items for review by the Company’s Disclosure Committee

  • Oversee the preparation and review of quarterly financial statements, including statement of cash flows

  • Ensure compliance with all GAAP and SEC disclosure requirements

  • Ensure the proper implementation of new accounting pronouncements into financial statements

  • Lead various process improvement initiatives to eliminate redundancies and improve efficiency

  • Provide accounting guidance and research on various items, such as business combinations, risk review items, revenue recognition, equity-based compensation, impairment of assets, and real estate transactions

  • Assist with the internal and external stakeholder review of the reporting deliverables

  • Support the annual audit and quarterly review activities with external auditors

  • Support testing by external auditors on internal controls

  • Determine the impact of new accounting pronouncements on reporting requirements and business practices

  • Interface with external auditors and others on complex accounting issues and SEC filings

    Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent related work experience

  • 5+ years technical accounting and reporting experience

  • CPA license

  • Masters Degree in Accounting or MBA preferred

  • Background in public accounting with experience working on larger SEC clients

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience researching and documenting application of accounting guidance to business transactions

  • Ability to anticipate and surface issues, solve problems and recommend solutions, while exercising good business judgment and risk management
