Description We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Legal Assistant in Atlanta, Georgia. As a Legal Assistant, you will primarily assist in the prosecutions division, dealing with Open Records Requests and managing both current and older files. The role will also involve drafting pleadings, conducting e-filing, and collaborating in civil litigation processes.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in managing Open Records Requests within the prosecutions division
• Handle both current and older files, including those in storage
• Ensure accurate matching of files to requests for approval
• Draft pleadings as part of the legal process
• Conduct e-filing of legal documents and records
• Collaborate in civil litigation processes to support legal proceedings
• Maintain an organized record and filing system for easy access and retrieval
• Resolve any inquiries related to customer applications
• Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action as needed
• Ensure all legal documents and proceedings comply with legal regulations and industry standards. Requirements • Holds a Bachelor's degree in Law, Paralegal Studies, or a related field
• Has a strong background in civil litigation
• Possesses experience in drafting pleadings
• Proficient in e-Filing and other legal software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Demonstrates a high level of confidentiality and discretion
• Has a keen eye for detail and accuracy
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Shows initiative and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with legal terminology and principles
• Proven experience in legal research
• Adheres to professional ethics and standards of the legal profession.
