Description
We are searching for a diligent Paralegal to join our team. This role is primarily focused on legal research, drafting documents, and record maintenance. This role offers a long-term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
• Review past meeting minutes and determine any changes to the county code that have not been forwarded for inclusion.
• Thoroughly examine the post-agenda to ascertain whether changes were made to the code.
• Check the current version of the code on municode to confirm if the changes have been included.
• Process all required changes to the county code in a timely and accurate manner.
• Utilize legal research tools such as Westlaw to support the tasks.
• Draft legal documents as required, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date.
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail in all tasks, particularly when updating the code.
• Perform all tasks remotely, using resources available on the public county website.
• Monitor and maintain accurate customer credit records.
• Process customer credit applications accurately and efficiently.
Requirements • Must have a degree in Law or related field
• Proficiency in using Westlaw for legal research
• Experience in drafting legal documents
• Knowledge of privilege laws and their application in legal proceedings
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Demonstrated problem-solving abilities
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience in a law firm or legal department is preferred
• Familiarity with legal terminology and principles
• Strong analytical and research skills
• Commitment to ethical conduct and standards
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
