Your responsibilities

-The ROI Specialist is responsible for providing support at a specified client site for the Release of Information (ROI) requests for patient medical records.

  • Collaborate with medical, operational, and administrative staff to develop, implement, and maintain information management systems.

  • Determine records to be released by reviewing requestor information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and obtaining pertinent patient data from various sources, including electronic, off-site, or physical records that match patient request..

    -Follows up on incomplete/inaccurate/missing records as appropriate and coordinates with local Affiliates to retrieve and process records stored offsite.

  • This includes all of the following duties, but not limited to, generating electronic record files, abstracting information from records, redaction, and releasing records to authorized parties and invoicing requestors for copies.

  • Answers telephones and greets customers in a friendly and courteous manner; responds to and resolves calls transferred from the Contact Center in a timely manner; manages services tickets generated by the Contact Center; routes tickets to the appropriate Tier group and closes tickets upon final resolution.

    Requirements

0-2 years of experience as a Registered Health Information Technician or 2-4 years in a Health Information Department.

  • Previous Release of Information in the Medical Record field required.

  • Familiarity with HIM within the Revenue Cycle.

  • Knowledge of Electronic Health Records system applications, preferably Epic Skills.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Ability to comprehend and retain information that can be applied to work procedures to achieve appropriate service delivery.

  • Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications. One or more years experience entering data into computer systems.

  • Strong verbal communication skills; demonstrated success responding to customer inquiries.

  • Demonstrated success working in an environment that requires attention to detail.

  • Proven track record of dependability.

  • Prior work experience in Release of Information is a plus.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.

  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations is preferred.

  • High school diploma or GED required.
