Our central Iowa client is hiring an controller with potential to backfill CFO upon retirement in the next few years! This is a hands-on controllership role, in the month end detail and heavily involved in regulatory reporting. Huge opportunity for streamlining, process improvement and making a difference in this small but mighty accounting department. Use your extremely detailed skills driving for accuracy and there will be success. Must have a BS in Accounting, leadership skills and at least 4 years' experience in the month end processes. As a Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial activities of our organization. This includes the development and management of budgets, preparation of financial reports, and ensuring the company's financial systems are robust, compliant, and support current activities and future growth.

Responsibilities:

• Overseeing the company's fiscal activity, including budgeting, reporting, and auditing.

• Assuring legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.

• Identifying and address financial risks and opportunities for the company.

• Reviewing financial reports for ways to reduce costs.

• Remaining up to date on audit best practices and state and federal law regarding company operations.

• Conducting the month-end closing process, ensuring the accuracy of financial statements and compliance with internal financial controls.

Requirements

• Must hold a minimum of 4 years of professional experience

• Ability to produce Ad Hoc Reporting as required.

• Demonstrated ability to execute Month End Close procedures.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions.

• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.

• Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and other financial systems.
