Robert Half Assistant Controller in Auburn, New York
Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Controller in Auburn, New York. The successful candidate will have the overall responsibility for agency financial practices through proper accounting and financial management procedures. This role is integral to the efficient operation of the agency’s Business Office and is expected to maintain an up-to-date set of accounting records consistent with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the integrity of the general ledger and manage the accounting function of the agency.
• Supervise the month-end closing procedures, including completing general ledger account reconciliations.
• Collaborate with the Controller to formulate a preliminary and final annual agency operating and capital budgets.
• Compare operating performance to budget and interpret variances.
• Provide financial information and analysis to directors to assist in program management.
• Prepare monthly and annual summaries and analyses of financial statements, balance sheets, and cash flow, including projections for succeeding months and quarters.
• Establish accounting policies and procedures with appropriate internal controls in conjunction with the Controller.
• Assure compliance with all governmental regulations, including the preparation and submission of various fiscal reports.
• Ensure completion of the annual financial audit, including preparation of various schedules, reconciliation of accounts and work papers, consultation with external auditors, and review of management letter.
• Perform other related duties at the discretion of the Controller.
Requirements • Must hold a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role or related field
• Proficiency in Accounting Functions, including but not limited to, budgeting, managing fixed assets and prepaids
• Experience in preparing annual reports and financial reports is mandatory
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Must possess a strong ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local laws regarding business operations and finance
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
